SPECULATIVE FICTION: WHAT IS IT?

Speculative fiction encompasses science fiction, fantasy, horror, time travel, alternate history, paranormal romance, myths & legends, anime/manga and most comic book fiction. In fact, anything that falls outside the realm of accepted reality would fall under the banner of 'speculative fiction'.

Activities

A reception with appetizers will be held opening night, Wednesday, October 1. Morning and afternoon sessions will be held the following three days, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Thursday evening there will be a panel question and answer session with the faculty. Friday evening into the night there will be intensive workshops of limited number of attendees per faculty member running the workshop. Saturday night will be the banquet dinner and awards ceremony for the associated Ralph Williams Memorial Speculative Fiction Short Story Contest winners. Sunday morning will include a farewell brunch before check-out. During morning and afternoon sessions, one-to-one consultations with faculty will be held by appointment only.

Book Signings

Prior to the conference, our distinguished faculty authors will hold book signings at local Anchorage book stores.
